Fevers should ideally be supported and not suppressed, in fact there's a proven correlation between autism diagnosis and the use of acetaminophen for inflammation and fevers. Anti-febrile medications are often suggested out of fear that if a fever spikes too high and too quick, it will cause a seizure and subsequent brain damage. This is a rare outcome and there are homeopathic remedies to help prevent this.
Ideally we want to let a fever run its course while giving electrolytes, keeping the body comfortable with cool drinks, taking sponge bath, optimizing rest, and ingesting broths and soups. If a fever is causing discomfort and spikes too high, dose a remedy in 30C potency once every 1-3 hours until the fever subsides. Some remedies well know for fevers include:
Aconite: After sudden onset of a fever, especially if after exposure to cold or wind; with fever there's anxiety, restlessness, palpitations and thirst. Pupils might be contracted.
Arsenicum: Prolonged chilly phase with shaking, even during fever; thirst for small sips of water; anxious and restless.
Belladonna: Sudden, intense fever; dry, burning fever without chills; face and body hot while hands and feet are cold; craves lemonade; throbbing headache with fever; glassy eyes; pupils dilated; delirium.
Chamomilla: Fever in young children, especially if teething; long-lasting heat; one cheek red, the other one pale; inconsolable; desires to be held and carried.
Ferrum Phos: Fever with few other symptoms; dry heat without chill; early stages of a fever.
Gelsemium: Fever with weakness, trembling, chills running up and down spine; sleepy and weak, with drooped eyelids; occipital headaches; pupils constricted; heaviness of body.
Nux vomica: Chills and shakes with fever, worse uncovering and drafts; desires a lot of heat and warm drinks.
Rhus tox: Terrible aching with fever; stiffness in the body; feeling restless and anxious.
