Pregnancy Remedies Series: Morning Sickness

I'm starting a new round of Pregnancy Class with Homeopathy and I thought about sharing with you the highlights of the class, the main remedies and how and when to take them.

Introduction

First of all, we discussed how safe and smart taking homeopathy during pregnancy is.

1) You don't have all the side-effects of the "regular" medicines, who are not even considered most times by doctors for pregnant women because of the possible consequences on the baby (Deformities, lo aleinu, etc.)

2) You prevent a lot of problems inherited from the parents to the child. Children who were treated (in utero or otherwise) with homeopathy are simply healthier.

3) The mother has an easier time giving birth, as Dr. Borland states in his book Homeopathy for Mothers and Infants:

“It is an experience common to homeopaths everywhere that their patients do not suffer from difficult labor. That does not prove anything but it’s a fortunate fact for the patients."

Then we moved on to the actual remedies that can help.

(Some) Remedies for Morning Sickness

The main ones are:

  • Pulsatilla. Nausea at night after eating, headaches. Mild, gentle and yielding personality.
  • Sepia. Nausea at the thought or smell of food. Mentally and physically worn out.
  • Arsenicum. Incessant vomiting. Anxiety and restlessness. Better warmth and hot drinks.
  • Ipecac. Constant nausea no better with vomiting. Clean tongue. Breathing issues on top.
  • Nux vomica. Worse in the morning (retching, nausea after eating). Weight in stomach.

You also have two smaller remedies but are almost specifics in case of nausea in pregnancy:

*Symphoricarpus. "Fatal" nausea with gagging and vomiting of blood.

*Colchicum. Nausea, vomiting and faintness at the sight of food (esp. eggs and fish). Great weakness, worse motion, better warmth.

*Tabacum. Nausea and diziness worse least motion and better cool, open air. It's one of our great motion sickness remedy.

Diatomaceous Earth - DE - Friend or Foe?

There's a very popular topic around here should you need a subject of conversation - that's worms, yes, of the intestinal kind (not the intellectual kind. I used to be a book worm, I guess I still am in a way).  Worms? Because they infect so many people so fast, it's important to find an alternative to the current medical solution which is basically poison to the body. For months I prayed to find one so we could get rid of these parasites, visiting my children's rectum every night (sorry for the visual).  I tried a soup recipe with all the types of food supposed to get rid of worms. Even homeopathy doesn't kill the parasites. Vermox, the medical option, works sometimes and sometimes not, but who knows what damage it does while it travels the body.  One day, I come across this post on hpathy.com, one of my favorite homeopathy reference website: "Stumbled upon this post, but I want to let anyone know who feels hopeless about parasites, especially worms. Coconut Family

Crazy Coco!   To anyone who like to visit the Olam HaTeva, the natural health store in Kesem, there's a treasure of coconut-related products. I once decided to buy them all (almost at once) and see what I could do with them. True, I could have found out  first  a recipe and  then  buy the product but where's the fun in that?  So now we're dealing with a few ingredients I need to find a recipe for: coconut oil, coconut water, coconut milk, coconut flour... Let's start with some fun, friendly treats for the children (and Sugar-Free too!) Coconut Popsicle  This recipe will surely please them and add some much-needed vitamins in their day, without them knowing! Nu, which vitamins? In  coconut water  - not to be confused with coconut milk, we'll get to that later - you have the following health benefits: - 15% of daily requirement (DR) of  potassium  in one cup.  - other electrolytes include calcium and magnesium, helps maintain proper fluid balance.  - a lot of water (o

Roll the balls in your humid hands and put them on a plate You could roll them also in a bit of chopped walnuts or grated coconut.
